On our card

A brunette shadow-queen with a horned crown sits on a dark throne, a torch held low in her hand, wearing the gold all-seeing-eye necklace. Two small figures stand before her holding golden cords that lie loose around them — they could walk away whenever they choose.

The Devil upright — the meaning

The Devil is not about evil, and it carries no shame. It is a card about attachment and habit, the patterns that can feel binding even when, like the loose cords on the card, they are not truly locked. It often points to a behaviour, relationship pattern, or thought loop that offers short-term relief while quietly costing more than it gives. Shadow material belongs here too, the parts of the self hidden. Honest, kind awareness, naming a pattern plainly without self-attack, is often the first loosening of its cord.

The Devil reversed — the meaning

Reversed, The Devil often points to a loosening already underway. Growing awareness of a habit, a first honest conversation about an attachment, or small choices that prove a cord was looser than it felt can all appear here. Progress can be uneven, and that is treated as normal rather than failure. Sometimes a pattern retreats inward and becomes more private, which is a cue to bring in support rather than carry it alone. Trusted friends, communities, and professionals all count. Choice returns one deliberate step at a time.

Name one habit or attachment honestly and without shame, then identify the smallest choice that loosens it.

Lunar lens — Last Quarter

The Last Quarter Moon is a phase of honest reckoning and release, when we choose what not to carry forward. That clear-eyed honesty suits this card. Write down one habit you are loosening, and one kinder replacement.
